Ok, I can't speak to the longevity of this device because just bought it. But it's not expensive. So I won't be out $30 if it fails in a year(in fairness, I did buy it on sale for $18 & change). I have bought immersion blenders before & they are incredibly convenient. I have a nice, regular blender but it's a big pain in the butt to clean. I deliberately bought the package that includes the large, tall mixing tumbler & the whisk attachment. I'm not a big meat eater to begin with, but I've been trying to eat healthier. So making protein smoothies with frozen banana cubes is a breeze. I am eating more eggs now & the whisk attachment makes scrambled eggs (or omelettes) super easy for small or large amounts (full disclosure: I bought a new "Carote non-stick pan", which is also fantastic). The banana protein smoothies are so much easier now. I've also used frozen pumpkin puree(just put it in ice-cube trays) & frozen avocado(which is surprisingly good) & pre-frozen mango I my protein smoothies. If you are trying to eat healthier, this makes life easier. I even used it to blend some cooked beans for a soup. It wasn't split pea. It was Asian mung bean, but it could have been split pea or any beans... or hummus or baba ghanoush. Also if you are watching your sodium, but you love red sauce, this makes making your own tomato sauce or marinara so simple. Even small batches (but for the love of God, use Plum/Roma tomatoes). You can roast the tomatoes or saute them with garlic & onion (& peppers if you like) & you can put the immersion blender right in the pan(provided it's not Teflon) & season it to taste. Literally, NO ONE is lazier than me. If I can encourage one person to try new things & eat healthier(or not, it's your call. Make meringue if you like, I love sweets), then great. Changing your habits & trying new dishes is so much easier with the right tools, especially if they don't break the bank. Have fun. Good luck.
