I just received this book a from Amazon a few days ago. After working through the first few chapters I had to write a review of how outstanding this book is!I am not a 3D artist and I have never worked with 3D modeling. The author takes you through the interface explaining it's functions as you progress. I was very pleased with the author explaining in detail the interface and Hotkeys for Blender. When I first opened Blender before I bought this book I was apprehensive at the forign environment. The GUI was intimidating! I now feel comfortable navigating and manipulating objects in Blender because of the authors excellent work on explaining the interface and controls!I was working on the tutorials I marveled at the authors style. Not only does the author explain what your doing, he even reiterates his point with a warning not to make a common mistake! I was just about to make that very mistake, I had my hand on the mouse as I read that line! The author had actually anticipated my actions!I have worked in the IT field for 16 years, so I am familiar with documentation. I marveled at how the author transitioned from the concept from one tutorial into the next! The work flow is very natural.Within the few days that I have had this book, I have gone from NO CLUE on Blender to feeling comfortable with the interface, and creating an animation timeline, and animating a simple scene! I realized last night as I did the simple animation tutorial with a few spheres how this would tie in to chapters on character animation further in the book!I sat in front of my computer bubbling with glee as I understood the concept of my objects in the scene and how they were tied to time! I haven't had this much FUN in a long time!Fiction, nonfiction, technical or nontechnical, this book is the BEST BOOK I have ever read on ANY subject!Incredibly well done!Jim Cullen
